agree? Differences between the film and the book? (TROY)
= i had read the about the FOUNDING OF TROY, THE JUDGEMENT OF PARIS, THE TROJAN WAR, THE FALL OF TROY…the iliad by Homer, covering the last 49 days of the 10th war of Trojan war, The Odyssey by Homer covering the adventures of Odysseus from Troy, after the end of war, to his kingdom in Ithaca.. i ALSO watched the FILM about it (TROY), and i found out that their are so many diffrences between the FILM and the BOOK..AGREE? if Yes, what are some? THANKS..
There were so many differences, so so many. I couldn’t believe the number of major things they changed in the movie. You really shouldn’t rewrite the Iliad or the Odyssey, it’s just a bad idea I think. For example, why did they kill Agamemnon? He definitely survives the Trojan War. He is killed soon after he returns home, but he absolutely survives the war. Otherwise, how would Aeschylus have written the whole trilogy The Orestia about his murder by his wife, and her subsequent murder by their son. I believe Menelaus gets killed in the movie as well, which is also completely wrong. He certainly survives the Trojan war as well as his brother Agamemnon, and I believe he even makes an appearance in the Odyssey, although I can’t remember for sure. The gods not being in the movie at all also bothered me. They were such an integral part of the epic, that is was odd not having them in the movie in any way. I also recall a scene somewhere near the end where Paris talks to Aneas and doesn’t know who he is, which is completely ridiculous since I believe they were cousins, or at least related in some way. It’s been too long since I saw the film for me to remember any more differences, but there were so many. Those are the ones that bothered me the most.
