Trek 7000 and Cannondale Quick 5?
I know very little about bikes. The bike shop I went to recommended that based on what I want to use it for(just light riding around town for exercise and leisure) that the Cannondale Quick 5 would be good for me.
Another local store is running a sale on the 2009 Trek 7000 for $289. The cannondale Quick 5 is $479. Can someone tell me first off if the Trek 7000 is the same type of bike and if the cannondale is worth 200 bucks more?

The Trek is a good deal. But the Cannondale has a lot better components. Cannondale makes one of the best alloy frames out there. Also, they are made in the United States. Most mid ranged or lower end alloy frames from Trek are made in Asia (China or Taiwan to be specific). I’m pretty sure that Trek is made in a Asian based country. It’s not that they are cheap quality. In fact many top end companies like Cervelo has their Carbon frames made in China. It really all depends.
Quality wise, the Cannondale is a decent price. Keep your eye out for a Cannondale that is on sale also.
The Trek is a very good price on sale. I would definitely get it if it was a recreational rider.
