good idea for gothic short story?
I have to write a Gothic short story for my english lit class. The requirements for a Gothic short story is that it must have: the dark side of an individual, scary weird endings, strange settings, odd characters, sadness, irony, and unexpected twists. Is this good for a Gothic story? I have an idea of having a family ( a teen boy, teen girl, and a mom) moving into a town because the mom found a job away from home. The 3 family members move into their new home and nearby their home, there is a wild forest. It takes place during the summer, so the kids are on vacation, while the mom has found a job in the town. The kids/teens are left home, so they have their summer vacation doing adventures around the forest. They see a castle in the middle of the forest. Then they explore it. A scientist owns the castle. He drinks a strange potion and becomes evil and takes control of the kids. Then the adventure/drama/ strange stuff occur. The boy dies in the end by the scientist.
an emotional twist would be if they found out the scientist was indeed there dad whom their mom never told them about because he was a psyco
