Hiking Boots For Wide Feet

hiking boots for wide feet
What footwear is suitable for Toronto Bruce Trail?

I’m new to this and I’m not going to go with running shoes. I would prefer going with a Light Trail Shoes like the Patagonia Drifter A/C Trail Shoes (Men’s) http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442632380&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302759879
Basically because they sound more comfortable and I have wide feet which makes it difficult to break in new boots.

Or do I need day hiking boots like Keen Oregon PCT Day Hiking Boots (Men’s)

Something that has more ankle support. I am only interested in day hikes. I am going through the website but I am having a difficult time determining how the terrain is like.

Or do I really need backpacking boots? I am using the MEC category system.

Thank you for your help.

I highly recommend using a hybrid hiking shoe like the New Balance MW977GT. It is going to be a cross between and hiking boot and a long distance walking shoe. It has a very rugged outsole for traction and durability like a boot would have. It’s also Gore-Tex which gives it the waterproofing of a boot. The New Balance Roll Bar feature gives it the ankle support and stability of a boot. However, it is very light weight and built for long distance walking like a walking shoe would be. The icing on the cake is it’s available in 3 different widths for every half size (D, 2E, 4E). I don’t know of anything else on the market that has all of these features and widths available. If you would like to try a comparable running shoe, the New Balance MT910GT has all of the same features but less ankle support and stability. Good Luck and please keep me posted on your progress!
