Hiking Dc Metro Area

Any country-style living near Washington DC?

I may have to move to DC for work and I’m honestly dreading it. I currently live in a decent-sized major metro area, but we have plenty of outdoors activities, including fishing, hiking, etc at our doorstep. I’m wondering if there are any neighborhoods in Virginia or Maryland away from the hustle and bustle of DC that are reasonably priced to rent with access to parks and outdoor recreation?

I would agree w Archangel. Another consideration is your commute. Depending where you work & live the commute can easily take up several hours of your workday. Driving will be the most stressful & expensive way to get to/from your job. For a more rural feel try looking in theses nearby counties:
Howard County, MD
Carroll County, MD
Frederick County, MD
Upper Montgomery County, MD
Loudoun County, VA
Prince William County, VA
Spotsyvania County, VA

The commute to these areas can take a toll on your life tho. As for reasonable cost, this is a pretty good time to be looking for a deal on homes around DC but the entire area is still expensive. Find a motivated real estate agent if you can. Best of luck.
