Where can I stay overnight while hiking Half Dome, without reservations months in advance?
I’m thinking of hiking Half Dome with my brother, girlfriend, and two other friends in mid to late September. I hear that you can only camp out if you get a permit months in advance, and I obviously don’t have that kind of time. Are there any ways around it?
Any hostels or other non-hotel/condo/ripoff venues to stay at that you can recommend?

I have not heard of any hostels. You might find some motels around the area that have vacancies but it would be a risk. Then again September is not a busy month so I’m 80% sure that you can get a room without a problem.
