Should i move my family ( two girls 12 and 3) from nw indiana to corvallis oregon?
We moved here to valparaiso in from Long island NY 6 yrs ago… so other than some great friends , we have no ties here. What are the people like? Schools? Activities ( other than hiking and running) and job outlook.
If you can, by all means do it.
Corvallis is a very tightly-knit town. So much so that it is extremely hard to find housing in the city. The extensive job market has most workers commuting from nearby cities, like Philomath and Albany.
Local cultural activities are limited to the schools and universities, but if you aren’t too demanding, they are abundant and charming. Portland is a 100 minute drive away and Eugene is 60 minutes. Both offer a much wider and sophisticated scope of activities from classy symphonies to creative offbeat food. Also Newport on the Oregon Coast is 60 minutes away and has one of the finest aquariums anywhere.
