Where’s a good camping place?

My family and I want to go camping in our new 5th wheel trailer but we have never gone camping before so I want to know where is a good place to take the trailer…..We live in the Riverside county area in California we are willing to travel 50 miles…. is does not matter if there is not a hook up for light, maybe restrooms nearby um we don’t want to be in like a Lott we want to be a little far from other campers like have our own spot in the woods or by the woods…Hiking is a plus we also want some trails near by maybe a creek or stream near by also can you please help us we really want to go on a vacation….. If we have to pay like a 15 dollar pass or something its fine as long as its not more than 70 dollars THANK YOU!!

Welcome to the world of RV life. Most campgrounds around our area charge at the minimum $20 a night add hook ups and the price jumps to $35 a night. You can find dispersed camping areas with no extras and camp for the price of the adventure pass $5 a day $30 for the year. Some nice dispersed camping can be found in the Big bear area and around the south entrance to Joshua Tree. South from you in the Indio area is also a winter/spring only dispersed area. I suggest you join the Yahoo Groups “Camping” and “Boondocking” they share a lot of info on trailer life and free or low cost camping destinations.

Also one of the items you will have to pay attention to is if the campground is big enough for your RV, will it fit?I also recommend your first few nights out be as close to home if not at home so that you get all the workings of your new toy easily figured out. That way in case of a system failure your home all ready and close to all the tools needed to fix things right.

Here is a few links to help you find a nice place to park
