How to stop my dog from hiking his leg inside the house?
My 2 y/o, housebroken rat terrier has just moved with me from an “all tile” house to a carpteted house. It has been almost 3 months now, and since day one he has seen fit to relieve himself in three different, regular spots inside.
Any suggestions on how to deter this? I have thought of spraying the edge of the pieces of furniture and carpet involved with nasty bug spray. Think this would deter him? Any body have a suggestion?????
Is he neutered? If not, start there. If he is, another medical possibility might be a urinary tract infection. If it were my dog, I’d rule out something medical before taking the behavioral route.
The areas need to be cleaned well with an enzymatic cleaner, like Nature’s Miracle, in order to remove the smells. If his problem is indeed behavioral, you’ll simply need to start back at square one with potty training.
